Adam Turning Away, 2008, charcoal on Rives BFK, 19 x 26 inches.
$800 unframed.
Cast Light Series 2008–the idea driving
this series is the play between two characters: the man and his shadow.
The image for Adam Turning Away reflects some of my personal
interaction, or lack of, with religion. There is a bit of symbolism going on
here: the shadow over his crotch is a play on puritans insisting on fig leaf
covered genitalia in art, yet the shadow is not a cover up. The cast shadow on the
wall gives of feeling of strength and fortitude. And the man his turning
away from the light, rejecting God.
