A wedge
of light, a layer of transparency, or a
powerful pattern will draw my attention and
inspire me to draw and paint the interiors that
give that effect. But there is more
than formal compositional elements alone: there is a feeling of
sanctuary.
Somewhere, deep in facebook, a friend
commented that everyone should have a bed
with a nice down comforter. I think everyone
should have a special room, like an art
studio. Part art store, with pastels, paper,
stretcher bars everywhere. And palettes, and
smells of oil, varnish, and coffee. And
music in the air. And a feeling as if there
is no other better place to be.
