Somewhere in 2006, I have been pushing my lights and darks further out to their limits. This drawing of my studio in Williamsburg shows that well--from the heavy dark of the canvas to the brilliant spot-lit ceiling and walls. I called the piece Sanctuary, because it's how I feel about my studios, this one perhaps more so than others. I have always gotten strength from being alone in my studio. Just sitting around contemplating life and art for some minutes or hours will result in lots of creation.
