Movement is mysterious and odd thing to have  in the stillness of a painting. Van Gogh and Michelangelo were great at creating it, Rubens as well. I am sure that spatial depth and giving the feeling that somethings are forward with other things behind is what contributes the most to the sense of movement. In this piece I love the swing of rotating arcs as they torque away from us.
