Bird Rock at La Jolla Cove, 2006, oil on canvas panel,  9 x 12 inches. Sold

I went fishing just once. I was a kid and along with my brother, Guy, we casted out to the Pacific from this very spot. I caught this tiny fish, a little bigger than a gold fish! I kept it alive in a tide pool but a wave came along, drenched us,  and swept my fish back into the water. As kids we, all of us in La Jolla, roamed everywhere with total freedom, exploring caves, and trespassing to get to remote coves during high tide.

I particularly love the rhythm of this work, the way the white rock tops, little gifts the birds leave, and how they swirl in an arc.
