Plein air painting is genre relatively new for me. I have made about 100 paintings in the last 2/3 years. The process is kind of simple, you take your stuff outside and paint as fast as you can and make yourself stop before the light changes too much. It has been said of plein air painters that they learn with every 80 paintings they make. I am beginning to get the sense I my particular style in this medium; I love to compose with abstracted large shapes and I love to play of the hierarchy of light. It's such a pleasure for me to use strong abstraction and to make something look like what it is. |
