The Window, 2006, oil on canvas panel,  12x16"

Sometimes I am crazy. I remember reading Wilde comment that he was seeing symbolism everywhere. I have always enjoyed painting openings of one sort or another: doorways, windows, caves, holes, etc. And, of course, you can have a field day with the symbolic connotations if you lean that way. I was also getting sunburned, and I have noticed that how I feel effects the nuances of colors I use--here, hot magentas and purples were the base.  I also had the thought that God could slip his finger in this hole and swing the earth by it.  A wonderful gift of letting yourself go and enjoying plein air painting is that there are not many complications, your free to explore your moods, colors, and whims.
