Arid Descent, 2007, oil on panel, 12 x 16" $800

A favorite area of mine is California's Borrego Springs. It is nestled in the foothills, backed by cragged mountains, slopping downwards towards Salten Sea, 30 miles away. I felt an eerie, sensual pleasure seeing the kaleidoscope of earthy  colors. It may be an odd feeling, not shared by many, but when I see a beautiful, expansive landscape and I take the time to take it in and paint it, I feel like a god. It is as if this enormous space can be held within my hands.
