Michael Newberry, at age 11, is blown away by Rembrandt's art; begins painting. At 17, he
starts selling his paintings and drawings. |
| 1974 |
He
studies under modernist, Edgar Ewing, as a fine art major at U.S.C., then
studies in Holland at the Free Academy
Psychopolis. Rembrandt, Vermeer, Picasso,
and the French Impressionists serve as
influences. |
1977-
2005 |
He
lives and exhibits throughout Europe and the United States; paints fulltime.
Studies the aesthetic thought of Kant and
Rand.
In the early 1990's he
teaches Life Drawing, Drawing and
Composition, and Painting at Otis/Parsons in Los Angeles.

2005-
Present |
Moves to New York, establishes the
Newberry
Workshop and continues to paint and draw
prolifically. He shares his knowledge
of seeing art in a fresh way
through a series of online
Mini-Tutorials.
Newberry’s
works
