MONTHLY STUDIO UPDATE:
FEBRUARY 2002
Monthly Studio Update is where I will bring you up to date on recently finished work, works in progress, and on upcoming lectures, exhibitions, and other aspects of my career.
Studio Updates:

Happily back in my studio after a few weeks absence work on Venus is moving along. Progress moves in good and bad waves and right now I am having a blast. Each mark of color I mix and apply is "locking-in" this experience gives me a very sensual delight. And that is the main reason why I am a painter. Formally speaking, I am painting the background first, this is the context in which she moves. My aim is to create a mellow and rich dusk light but dark enough so that when I highlight her body the contrast of light will be startling. Color wise I am trying to create smoky and intense blues and purples. I also want the atmosphere to feel "hot" even though blue is essentially a "cold" color.
Non-Studio Update:
Since Christmas I have been to London, New York, Williamstown, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Tampa. Most of my stops were designed to meet philosophers, art museum directors, artists, and businesspeople to create a network of connections for the support of the Foundation. I could not have wished it to go better. Unfortunately, I am not willing to discuss more details at present.
I will speak in New Zealand at The Free Radical's Solo Conference February 22-25th. My topic will be Ushering in a New Era in the Arts.
Tonight, February 1st, is the last night of my exhibition at the New Museum of Contemporary Greek Art in Rhodes. Following are some pictures of my work and the exhibition space--its was a magnificent place to show.
During this exhibition I gave the talk The Golden Means: The Integration of Emotion, Thought, and Sensual Perception.
