Studio Update:
Happy New Year!
New York is a wonderful place to be during Christmas holidays and New Years. I listen to WQXR, the classical music station, and they do a wonder job in creating an atmosphere for the holiday season; even Nimet the all night DJ inspires me to stay up with her into the wee hours of the morning.
I have been here 3 months. Money is coming in, I dearly enjoy working with my new students, and I am making tremendous artistic breakthroughs with my theory of Light Triangulation.
Here are a few examples from four of my students:

Often after I teach a particular thing in a class I like to revisit the process myself. Now these student drawings were done in about 2 1/2 hours, they did it in one session. For my work, I worked on it for about 60 hours, what's that? some 20 x longer then what they did--so factor that in if you make comparisons!

While figuring out the best way to communicate light theory to my student I hit on the idea of triangulating the light and shadow areas. I was dumbfounded by how much easier that made keeping an overview of all the visual information and how much easier that made the realism. Three Cry Babies above and Three Fruits below are results from this method of working. To give you an indication of the process notice the whiteness of the plate compared to the "whiteness" of the matt in the framed piece behind, and the "whiteness" of the wall behind that. I compared the lightness of the those three things. I did the same for the dark shadows. Anyway that is the idea.
