Studio Update:

I have been working on a principal work before and after my August trip to France. I was clocking about 14 hours a day for several weeks...all to wipe most of it off again, ah the pain, actually I love painting even when it doesn't work. As soon as I finish this update I am off to dive back into it. It could be finished today, 2nd of September, and I promise to post it here if I finish it this week. I really don't want to post a pic of now because it looks finished but there is something missing in the feeling of the expression. When I nail that and it rocks my world I will love to show it!

Non-Studio Update:

For the last few months I have been publishing a series of art tutorials about seeing art in a fresh way. They focus on one creative problem and show how it is resolved in the art work(s). They cover a range from how rhythm can organize chaos in a beautiful way to how transparency is a key for spatial depth--I think you will find them enlightening. The fall schedule for art classes is up! Pastel, Charcoal Drawing (really it is more like painting in charcoal, I love it), and Painting. This year I am emphasizing fundamental tools and, simultaneously,  connecting the techniques to the deeper meaning of what it is to be an artist.
