December Studio Update

Studio Update:

Sanctuary, February-2007, pastel on paper, 19x26  sold

In the first part of February I did a lot of work. Put in a lot of hours on Venus and Himalayan Flight, and got a couple of models in to finished studies for Venus. I also brought to my studio a cache of art works that had been in storage for about 15 years. So I have lots of cool things to show you but, unfortunately, I came down with a serious cold, the worst one that I have had, and it has since left me with a swollen foot. Painting and running up and back in my studio is impossible at this time, much less setting up the art for a photo shoot.

Instead, I have had a great time reading.

I read 3 books by Mary Renault and I have recalled that they were a supportive influence on me in early twenties. Long before that, in my pre-teens, I remember wishing to be loved for my goodness and knowing that somewhere out there, even on the other side of the world, there would be someone to share love with. Why am I bringing this up? Well...I thought that others might like an inside look into my motivation to create.

I know that married couples periodically renew their vows and that is something I recently did with my art. I rededicated myself to bring out the best and brightest in my spirit and skill. I know that there are many, many people that don't think skill is important in the arts or that the good is something like a superimposed nanny or  dictator on one's freedom but it so doesn't feel that way to me. Going for the good, feels something like diving into the cerulean water as a dolphin, driving up the speed, rising up, twirling in the air, and slamming back into the water, to rise up again, then morphing into bird, budding wings, and soaring up into the zenith.

On other fronts. I signed contract yesterday with an art publishing house that supplies mass market distributors of  of fine art prints. I look forward to seeing the results of this.

As soon as my foot is better I will gladly upload lots of images.
