Monthly Studio Update - January, 2008

Happy New Year
Studio Update: Several drawings are coming to completion in the series of charcoal figure drawings. There are about 10 others underway. I plan on presenting them framed and together in an open studio this March.

I am still tweaking Venus for several hours everyday. It seems that for any mark I make changes something else in the painting. A highlight too light or too colorful changes the flow somewhere else. The closest analogy I have for painting light is that it feels like controlling fire!
All I need to do is smooth and round off a few features and then I am done. I sense the completion is near.

I really enjoy the life of the solitary artist, but then I do miss hanging around with nice people who love art. Last week I decided to open my studio for life drawing sessions once a week. It's a great interview with several really good reproductions of some of my key works.
