Today’s edit, there are no grays, only overlapping of warm and cool colors.
Subtle gray paintings could be a reflection of dull confused mind, in which nothing comes into focus. On the other hand, manipulating the space of a landscape with very little difference in tone is a fascinating study in nuance; how can an artist form depth with virtually nothing. I love the problem.
It is like being pulled into a mystery in which one must concentrate to make out what is there and then make sense out of vague hints. Like the barest suggestion of a very weak scent, that gives you a sense of deja vu, but not enough for clear recall, yet it askes you to keep engaged.
It is a great challenge in being subtle, hahaha, I wish I could sometimes write like that. An interesting thing, I didn’t use any gray pastel, I overlay warm and cool colors, until they achieve the right hue, which ends up being gray, but it is has layers of shimmering colors within it.
