After I finished the 3-year project of painting Denouement, I took a 3 month trip to Greece. My favorite island was Rhodes, where I rapidly drew this pastel of the 3 palms. Who would have know 6 years later I was to move next door to them.
There was a lot of info and only about 45 minutes to get it all in. I literally drew as fast as I could, not taking anytime to contemplate or plan, just blast in on, surprisingly the composition has big blocks of stuff that are well balanced. The experience of working so fast, and if it works, is exhilarating.
