Today’s edit. Compared to indoors, the sun’s light outdoors is crazy bright. Even with the sun behind you, the landscape is some like 100 times brighter than what can be done with paint or pastel. One way to give a sense of natural brightness is for the painter, me, to brighten the shadows. Here I am using lemon yellow, and yellow orange at the bottom.

One loses out with realism, but gives a real sense of the brightness — an exciting problem to explore.
